The Ways of Yore ist das 12. Musikalbum des norwegischen Musikprojektes Burzum von Varg Vikernes aus dem Jahr 2014. Das Album wurde über das Label Byelobog Productions veröffentlicht, das Varg Vikernes selbst gehört.
Hintergrund
Die Musik stammt von Burzum, der auch den Mix und die Produktion übernahm. Auf dem Cover ist eine Zeichnung mit Viviane und Merlin des französischen Künstlers Gustave Doré (1832-1883) zu sehen. Das Design und Layout stammt von Dan Capp und Burzum.[1]
Der Titel "Emptiness" ist eine Neuaufnahme des Titels "Tomhet" seines Albums "Hvis lyset tar oss" aus dem Jahr 1994. Auch der Titel "To Hel And Back Again" ist eine Neuaufnahme, und zwar von dem Titel "Til Hel Og Tilbake Iglen" seines Albums "Fallen" aus dem Jahr 2011.[2]
Entstehung
Am 12. Mai 2014 veröffentlichte Varg Vikernes auf YouTube die Videopreview "The Ways of Yore", in dem von jedem der 13 Titel die ersten 30 Sekunden zu hören sind.[3] Das Album wurde dann am 2. Juni 2014 veröffentlicht. Den Vertrieb übernimmt erneut der britische Distributor Plastic Head Distribution.[4]
